all the wings... i am sam.
Not that long ago some one suggested that we should register our names (nicknames, handles, whatever one might call them) due to the problem of people using the same name on this site. I was one of those oppose to the suggestion. I said that we would work it out amongst ourselves.
Later someone use the same name as me, sam, to post a message with degrading meaning. I asked ahlap to remove that message. Not becasue he use a name same as mine but simply becasue we should not let anyone mocking other people especially using someone else's name. AHlap was nice enough to do it. For this I was 'pulled the hind leg' by another person saying that i cannot take my own medicine.
Here we have apparently several wings. AND all of you handle the confusion very well. This is the spirit we expect of AHlap's friends. Let us keep this web site simple and friendly. I congratulate you all, especially wing(79, 82) and wing(80, the other)

Hello sam:
I am Wing with the bigger head... haha. I have followed what you mentioned above and I do remember his name also. Of course we do have to realize that "same name", just as in real life, is unavoidable. The problem is, in a website, no one can really differentiate which one is which by just looking at the name. There is no face or voice to add to it. It has become our "identity". We don't know this other person and don't know what he/she will come up with some day, not to mention that it would also be very confusing to other members too since I have appeared in this site plenty of times. I believe it is reasonable to request the newcomer to change to another name/identity in order to protect oneself. Of course, it should be handled in a resonably "friendly" manner first. Do you agree? Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. |

big head wing yes. you can request politely as you did. Yes, later coming Wing also accept your suggestion gracefully. That exemplifies what we mean by civilization and courtesy and respect to each other.
If people voted to have nicknames registered, or ahlap decides to enforce that I would accept without question of course.
Proud of both of you. |

A web nickname is still an identity. Not sure one needs it to be registered but to avoid confusion, a system which do not allow two similiar names does have it usefulness. |
