Thanks Sam; 因我聽說用 2.0 reed 或以下會學壞師,至少2.5, 才有此一問。

real professionals have strong mouth formation. They often use 3 or even higher. I use 2.5 if I use 2 or lower it is easier to produce sound but the reeds are thin and I often produce squealing noise. very annoying and embarrassing. But then I never had any proper lessons. I regret it but back then I was so poor when young. If you want to playing seriously ( any instruments) it pays to take proper lessons.
Many years ago I was a frequent visitor to Ahlap but I caused quite a bit of controversies with my comments.
back to your question. Music is music. There may be different styles of music but the basic of music is the same.
Instrument playing is also as such. Anyone can use the same saxphone to play jazz, classical, Chinese opera. All you need to learn is how to play the saxphone properly. Learn the fingering for different keys and you can play anything. Of course no one in HK will teach you how to play saxphone in a Chinese opera band. That will cost you an arm or a leg.
you should have kept learning the saxphone. For opera I suppose you can concentrate on the fingering for C G F Bb and D. Then you can play almost anything.
C 調的色士風用在粵曲伴奏是否普遍呢? no Tenor is in Bb and Alto in Eb. Tenor is more suitable than alto in CO. The soprano sax is in C but just too high pitch for CO. I have never seen anyone using it.
