I also watched the performances, especially the new by MCF, and I must say I was quite disappointed. The children were really good in their previous perfoemances, especially,Sum Yung, who was so naturally an actress for her roles and Sum Pui, who I thought really put in effort and emotion into the characters that she enacted in. But on the most recent performances, the "spark", seemed to be lost in the performances. The little actors were still pretty okay, but they all seemed a little tired and lifeless. seemed a bit too long, and except for Sum Yung and Sum San, the other actors did not really had chances to show their acting, which is quite sad since is a story famoous for the distant personalty of each and every character. Sum Yung's acting was a bit superficial, just the typical interperation of Dai Yu without ny consideration of what the character really is, all I saw was a sad girl who is about to cry at every scene, and did not really captured my eye as the little girl who played Zi Kun, the servant girl in the last scene. The last bit when Sum San sang alone on the stage was just... a bit too much, it was almost like a showcase, and did not contribute to the show, at all. I wish to see a better performance next time, and I am hopeful that these young actors will really get to show their full in the next show. |
