yes, it is a personal thing. But I believe total recorder also needs lame. correct??
Just like audacity, bit of a nuisance!!
T recorder is not free also??? |

 TC doesn't need LAME. Its a 30 day limit freeware convertible to permanent by user id and pswd.  |

forget about everything
let us concentrate on jet audio
when you download jet audio have you got it installed??
if you selct run---then it would have jetaudio installed already
If you select save.....you still need to run that downloaded file to install the program
Once you have installed the program you can open it by clicking the icon.
You see a music recorder with the usual universal buttons that can record, play, forward backward etc...
One other thing you need to do is to select the source of music.
there is a little window with an arrow. it will show you the choices..microphone, phone, line in, etc.......select something similar to 'wave out mix', or 'stereo mix'.
Now you can play anything on your pc, as long as you can hear it you can record it by clicking on the recoirding button.
you stop by pressing the stop button.
then you can save the file.
Save under mp3. You select the file menu (top left hand corner). select 'save as', select mps.
Bingo you get a mp3 file.
wav, mp3, ogg etc are all music format. That means a type of music file. don't worry about the detail. Learn to record a song first. Once you have a song in mps format we can take it further.

Hi Sam,
I cannot open the JetAudio in 粵曲大笪地, so I have download JetAudio Version 6.06 from
website this morning and successfully recorded a song from my tape to a wav file.
There is no mp3 format option as you said. Can you teach me how to record it to mp3 format.

i found that the best thing to use is itune (free program for the ipod). very simple and good. it rips cd tracks into mp3, also wav into mp3. it does not play rm, ra or ram though.
it also burns cd from mp3 or wav easily.

audacity allows you to save your recordings in wav or mp3 or ogg. May be other programs do the same but i am happy with audacity.
itunes let you rip cd tracks into mps, wav, and make mp3 from wav.
andn make mp3 or audio cd's.
I can see people have trouble making mp3 from rm. someone suggested a program here a while ago to do this nad I found that exceptionally simple to use.
