Hi R, I only know how to do it the dumb way, as follows:
1. download audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net - I suggest you go to the website and go right to "tutorial" first and just follow the instruction in the tutorial.
2. open audacity and set the audio input source = your sound card 3. select the song you wish to save and play it through Real Player (I have not tried it with window media player, but I think it should not make any difference) 4 simultaneously click on the "record" button of audacity 5. when you finish playing stop the recording and save the recorded copy in your computer as mp3 format 6. you can then burn this save mp3 format.
hope this is helpful. or maybe someone out there would share with us an easier way.
P.S. audacity is "freeware" |

Rosa: Indeed the quality and connection from RealPlayer is better than MS Media Player based on my first hand experience! What you mentioned is the only way to capture a Radio song, I do just the same, except I used a $12 software, TotalRecorder. |

R. Chiu, Rosa & 思菩,
You might have your audio clips saved as MP3 directly by means of RealyPlayer while you are listening without the aid of any 3rd party s/w. Just point to "tool" , select "record from mic/line in", in the pop-up window, Step 1. Select a source: System Mixer, Step 2. Name your clip: Any name you like. Then Press the "Record" button. That's All.
Hopefully this might help.
JoeJoe
PS The saved file will be in your C:\My music by default. |

Hi Joejoe,
Thank you for the tip, however, my Real Player does not have this feature. I would need to pay a monthly fee of US$12.95 in order to have this upgraded version. |

Hi, Rosa and Joejoe,
I am still working hard to try to save a song from my computer. I tried Joejoe's method. I think I can save it sucessfully but when I play it, it come out without any sound, maybe it is not in mp3 mode.
I also tried Rosa's method. I downloaded audacity and tried it, but there is no mp3 mode for me to choose to record. Maybe my computer knowledge is too limited, so up to now, I still cann't make a a disc. |

So long as you could sucessfully save what you recorded, it indicates your RP is implemented with the said feature. The output format is MP3 by default. Pls try to play the saved file with a diverse player instead of RP to see the outcome. |

R Chiu, there is no mp3 mode to choose when you are recording using Audacity, you simply click the record button, when you are finished, you can "export your file" as mp3 format. (pull down "file" menu and you will see it) |

Now I can record the song into my computer and play it. I think it is in wav format. I think I can change it to mp3 very soon.
Thanks a lot. |

There's a freeware out there, call CDEx, you can use it to convert any audio-CD tracks, or WAV files, into MP3 format. Good luck!
